DDR Classification Badges
In GDR were issued some "Classification
badges" (Klassifizierungsabzeichen)
The Classification
badges changed shape in the various years
of DDR.The badges had 3 levels (1-3)and Master
level, Any of this level had an exam; all this
system made a high level of professional
competence of all the elements in NVA,Police and
all forces with classification badges in East
German soldiers of all ranks were encouraged to
earn them an consider them with honor
The
badges was instituted in the last years of 1950
as an important part of DDR effort to create a
more professional military by encouraging
members of the armed forces to improve their
technical skills.
Between 1958 - 1990, the
design of the Classification badges
chenged in 3 series as indicates below:
1st Series, from 1960 to 1967 - Silver
badges with a tapered wing design in varying
lengths, issued in 3 skill levels: I, II and III
plus Master levels (only for come class)
2nd Series, from
1963 to 1985 - Bronze badges with square centers,
issued in 3 skill levels: I, II and III plus
Master levels (only for come class)
3rd Series, From 1986 to 1990 - Gold
badges with oval centers, issued in 3 levels: I,
II and III plus Master levels (only for come
class)
